ULLENS EDUCATION FOUNDATION HANDS OVER RS. 20 LAKHS TO PRIME MINISTER’S DISASTER RELIEF FUND TO SUPPORT FLOOD-AFFECTED FAMILIES

Sept 9, KATHMANDU, NEPAL — In the wake of the devastating Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river flooding in Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river corridors, the entire Ullens family has come together to stand with our fellow citizens. The Ullens Education Foundation, alongside our schools in Khumaltar and Bansbari, our parent body, Action Team for Partnership, our dedicated teachers, staff, and support teams, has contributed Rs. 20,00,000 to the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.

The cheque was formally presented to the Honorable Minister of Finance, Dr. Swarnim Wagle, to help bring immediate relief, food, and shelter to the hundreds of families and students displaced by the recent disaster.

For all of us at Ullens, this contribution carries deep personal meaning. The handover took place on the exact day our community gathered to remember the tragic incidents that impacted our own school facilities in Khumaltar, Bansbari, and Nala last year. Rather than turning inward on a day of memory, our students, parents, board of trustees and staff chose to channel our shared strength toward helping those who are hurting right now.

Reflecting on why the foundation decided to step forward during its own period of recovery, Som Paneru, President of the Ullens Education Foundation, shared a message that truly speaks for our whole community:

“Our personal adversities can wait; the scale of destruction caused by these floods demands our immediate, collective focus. Having endured our own structural trials, our institution deeply understands the pain of loss and the arduous process of rebuilding from the ground up. In this critical moment for Nepal, we are committed to being a reliable pillar of support. Alongside our communities, we will emerge stronger and dedicate our effort toward restoring hope and rebuilding our country.”

For over twenty years, Ullens Education Foundation has believed that education goes beyond the classroom. It is about empathy, civic duty, and showing up for one another when times get tough. While our classrooms in Khumaltar and Bansbari remain fully open and vibrant, our hearts and efforts are equally focused on helping our neighbors rebuild their lives.

बाढीपीडित परिवारको सहयोगार्थ युलेन्स एजुकेसन फाउन्डेसनद्वारा प्रधानमन्त्री दैवी प्रकोप राहत कोषमा २० लाख रुपैयाँ हस्तान्तरण

काठमाडौँ, भदौ २४ (सेप्टेम्बर ९) — भोटेकोशी र त्रिशूली नदी तटीय क्षेत्रमा आएको विनाशकारी बाढीबाट प्रभावित नागरिकहरूसँग ऐक्यबद्धता जनाउन सम्पूर्ण युलेन्स परिवार एकताबद्ध भएको छ। युलेन्स एजुकेसन फाउन्डेसन, खुमलटार र बाँसबारीस्थित युलेन्स स्कुल, अभिभावक संस्था ‘एक्सन टिम फर पार्टनरसिप’ (एटीपी), बोर्ड अफ ट्रष्टीज तथा समर्पित शिक्षक, कर्मचारी एवम् सहयोग टोलीको संयुक्त पहलमा ‘प्रधानमन्त्री दैवी प्रकोप राहत कोष’ मा २० लाख रुपैयाँ योगदान गरिएको छ।

विपद्का कारण विस्थापित सयौँ परिवार तथा विद्यार्थीहरूलाई तत्काल राहत, खाद्यान्न र अस्थायी बासस्थान व्यवस्थापनमा सहयोग पुगोस् भन्ने हेतुले फाउन्डेसनका संस्थापक अध्यक्ष सोम पनेरुको नेतृत्वमा रहेका प्रतिनिधिहरूले अर्थमन्त्री डा. स्वर्णिम वाग्लेलाई उक्त रकमको चेक औपचारिक रूपमा हस्तान्तरण गरेका हुन्।

युलेन्स परिवारका लागि यो सहयोग हस्तान्तरण विशेष र संवेदनशील छ। गत वर्ष खुमलटार, बाँसबारी र काभ्रेको नालास्थित आफ्नै विद्यालयका भौतिक संरचनामा पुगेको क्षति र दु:खद घटनाको स्मरण गरिरहेकै दिन यो सहयोग रकम हस्तान्तरण गरिएको हो। स्मृतिको यस विशेष दिनमा आफ्ना दु:खमा मात्र सीमित नरही युलेन्सका विद्यार्थी, शिक्षक, अभिभावक, बोर्ड अफ ट्रष्टीज  र कर्मचारीहरूले आफ्ना सम्पूर्ण शक्ति र सान्त्वनालाई संकटमा परेका नागरिकको सहयोगमा समर्पित गर्ने निर्णय गरेका हुन्।

पुनरुत्थानको यस चरणमा पनि संस्थाले सहयोगको हात अघि बढाउनुको औचित्य प्रस्ट्याउँदै युलेन्स एजुकेसन फाउन्डेसनका अध्यक्ष सोम पनेरुले भने, “हाम्रा व्यक्तिगत दु:ख र अप्ठ्याराहरूले केही समय पर्खन सक्छन्; तर यो बाढीले पुऱ्याएको क्षति यति ठूलो छ कि यसले हाम्रा तर्फबाट तत्काल र सामूहिक कदमको माग गर्दछ। विगतका कठिन चुनौतीहरू आफैँले भोगेका हुनाले शून्यबाट पुनः उठ्नुको पीडा र सङ्घर्ष हामी राम्ररी बुझ्छौँ। नेपालका लागि यो कठिन घडीमा दायित्वबोधका साथ नागरिकको सहारा बन्नु हाम्रो कर्तव्य हो। आफ्ना संरचनाहरूलाई सुदृढ बनाउँदै गर्दा हामी देशको पुनःनिर्माण र आशा जगाउने कार्यमा निरन्तर समर्पित भइरहनेछौँ।”

विगत दुई दशकभन्दा बढी समयदेखि युलेन्स एजुकेशन फाउन्डेसनले शिक्षा भनेको कक्षाकोठाको ज्ञान मात्र नभई सामाजिक उत्तरदायित्व, सहानुभूति र अप्ठ्यारो समयमा एक-अर्काको साथ उभिनु हो भन्ने मान्यता राख्दै आएको छ। हाल खुमलटार र बाँसबारीका कक्षाकोठाहरूमा नियमित पठनपाठन पूर्ण रूपमा सञ्चालन भइरहेका छन् भने संस्थाको ध्यान र प्रयास प्रभावित नागरिकहरूलाई पुनः स्थापित गराउनेतर्फ उत्तिकै समर्पित छ।
