Curriculum

Ullens School offers a multifaceted and balanced curriculum for grade 1-12, remaining within the framework of the Nepal Government’s National Curriculum. The school delivers this curriculum through the Bank Street approach to teaching.

The school delivers this curriculum through the Bank Street approach to teaching. We maintain a partnership with the Bank Street College of Education, New York, a pioneer in innovative and progressive education.

At Ullens, we value experiential learning. Our teachers create a hands-on environment in the classroom. Through group work, students learn the value of cooperation as a way of solving problems.

Classes are taught in English, but students learn to speak and write in both Nepali and English. In addition, all students from grade I to VIII study Mandarin. They learn to organize their ideas clearly and concisely whether they are speaking or writing.

Our students learn mathematics through problem-centered experimentation. In science and social studies classes, teachers begin with what students already know about their world, and then continue to explore the subjects through hands-on activities, textbooks, and resource materials. Field trips are an essential part of this kind of learning.

In addition to computer education, which begins in grade one, all classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards with cutting-edge hardware, graphics, and learning resources. We not only ensure access for our students to the latest ICT resources, but we also train them to handle digital technology and resources so that they are prepared for meaningful communication in the digital era.

We nurture creativity through art classes. Students draw, paint and model clay in fine arts classes, and they develop confidence in performing arts through singing, playing musical instruments and acting.

Our physical education program is aimed at helping children not only become athletes but also develop an understanding of the values of physical education and the discipline associated with it so that they commit to fitness for life.

The school provides ample opportunities for students to expand their academic and social horizons through educational field trips, school tours and lectures by guest speakers.

Ullens School also offers the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) and NEB curriculum.
