Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa

Prof. Dr. Bhola Thapa is a distinguished academic who has made significant contributions to the advancement of higher education and research in Nepal. He served as the Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University from January 2021 to January 2025, during which he strengthened the institution’s academic standards, expanded international collaborations and advanced quality assurance initiatives. Prior to this, he held several key leadership positions including Registrar and Dean of the School of Engineering, where he was instrumental in securing the university’s first Quality Assurance and Accreditation (QAA) certification, establishing Kathmandu University as a leading institution in engineering education.

An accomplished scholar in the field of hydraulic machinery and energy systems, Prof. Thapa has supervised numerous doctoral and postgraduate researchers and has published extensively in international journals and conferences. His leadership in projects supported by global organizations such as NORAD, KOICA, ADB and the World Bank has enhanced Kathmandu University’s research capacity and global partnerships. Recognized with prestigious fellowships and awards, he continues to contribute to the academic and scientific community through his research, publications and service to national and international academic bodies.
